is t ook echt precies de maat van een ipod, dat zakje, of past elke speler of portomonaie erin? hoe dan ook, in mn spijkerbroeken van 49,95 past alles wat ik dagelijks mee neem. (die rode lint lijkt me ook wel irritant om elke keer weer terug in dat zakje te proppen)

Belgians speak flemish, which sounds like a dialect of dutch. Dutch is the language spoken in Holland/the Netherlands. The inhabitants are called Dutchs. Holland is right to the north-west of Germany. Germany's (DEUtSchland in german) language is german. Sweden and Switzerland are not the same country. Sweden is based in the north of Europe, Switzerland is in the middle. We do have electricity, running water and a high education in Europe.

levi's and nike are now working together with Ipod... they actually worked together in this type of cooperation with Philips in the past... can you imagine that? Ipod is actually copying Philips in choosing partners.. for the one who didnt know what dutch is.. I have a nice trivia here.. from which country is Philips? ;)

Some of the US-citizens I've met are really VERY ignorant when it comes to which languages are spoken in which countries and I can assure you if you try to make them understand the differences they really don't care. Even in their own country the can't get it right ... take for instance the Amish people living in Pennsylvania. The Amish are also called Pennsylvanian-Dutch as is their language. So one should think that these people arrived to the US of A houndreds of years ago from The Netherlands ("Holland") where they speak Dutch, but NO that's not the fact. Truth is, however, that these people came from Germany (Deutschland), Switzerland and Alsace and when asked by immigration if they spoke English they answered: "Nein, deutsch!". Immigration put that down as Dutch and so the Amish became the Pennsylvanian-Dutch while they should have been the Pennsylvanian-Deutsch ... I can understand the confusion. The Dutch speak Dutch but live in the Netherlands which is also called Holland after its 17th century name. Then there are the Flemish who speak Flemish which is very similar to Dutch and live in Flanders which lies in western Belgium. Both Belgium and Holland, er, the Netherlands are neighbors to Germany. The Dutch hate the Germans because they talk loud, the Flemish hate the Dutch because we talk loud, and we all hate Americans because they talk the loudest. Well, and there is this moron in Washington.

I clicked onto this page to read about Levi iPod Jeans and what I got was a 10 minute diversion into a microcosmic debate(?) that mirrors the state of world relations. Political and geographical boundaries are man made. In my view, without them we would all be much better off (a bit of idealism for you). It is a fact of life that there are all types of people in every country in the world. Without exception we are all ignorant in some aspect of world and even local knowledge. I regard myself as literate, tolerant and intelligent but admit that every time I look at something on the internet I am reminded that I know almost nothing to any great degree outside of my own immediate day-to-day world. The main thing is that we should strive to learn and try to understand each other. We should celebrate how far we have moved on from the days where we ALL used to throw sticks at each other, etc. Look back, evolution is measured culturally; music, dance, art and social interaction. At various stages in history, in every country in the world, there have been 'dark ages'. Personally I believe that we are somehwere in a global 'dark age'. But, by being tolerant, optomistic, and positive towards each other humanity will come through it stronger and truly 'global'. In a couple of hundered years time the world will be completely different. Political boundaries will have all but dissappeared (I hope) because they are unsustainable. I consider myself the same as every other average inhabitant of this fantastic planet and I love you all... ...call in for a coffee or beer if you're passing.

I am so saddened by all of these comments. I am a highly educated American who is culturally aware of most, of not all, cultures and minority cultures and languages in Europe. I'm sorry for my government, it is worthless. But, I, one person, can't do much about it. I'm sorry that we aren't the best at languages, but all I can do is continue to study the four languages that I know study. Which includes Dutch. I'm sorry you think American are loud and ignorant. Because there are a great many wonderful people outside the stereotype that care a lot about you and your culture and your life. So, please stop belittling Americans. I live in Maastricht and must say the stereotypes I hear here are completely wrong. Also, to our defense, Americans are geographically separated from European, African, and Asian cultures. And, as a result, contrary to what others may believe, we have THE largest desire of any people I have ever met to learn about other cultures and to learn their languages. The problem is that we are not given the TOOLS to learn your languages or learn about your cultures. So, please, remember that people are individuals.

Let me start off by saying that I'm a cat lover. I love cats.Indoor cats. Cats who are well cared for and loved.
Our next door neighbors, who are good people and we have no complaint about, are animal lovers too. They also have three cats. Outdoor
cats. Oh, and three dogs. Outdoor dogs. (Their back yard is maybe about 4/10's of an acre?) Well, you can imagine that the outdoor cats
don't feel like spending time with the outdoor dogs... why should they when they can so easily hop the fence and spend time in OUR yard?
Ordinarily, it wouldn't bother me at all to have a cat roaming through our yard. I LIKE cats. But these guys are wearing out their
welcome.
Our poor cats stand at the windows unable to chase those cats off of their territory. We used to let our cats out every now and t
hen to chew the monkey grass or sniff around (they're declawed... we have to stay with them to make sure they don't escape). We
can't anymore... the neighbor's cats scent sends one of our males into a frenzy whereby he attacks our other cats.
We can't leave our garage door up anymore (they pee in our garage). I can't enjoy the birdfeeder anymore (they stalk the birds).
And just now, I went outside and discovered our yard smells like one of those crazy cat lady houses.
